Ukrainian drones attacked Nizhnekamsk in Tatarstan and targets in the Kuban region of southern Russia on the morning of August 20. Nizhnekamsk mayor Radmir Belyaev said air defense forces repelled an "another massive attack" on the district.
Monitoring channels Exilenova+ and Supernova+ reported that the TANECO refinery, owned by oil company Tatneft, was hit. Witnesses published videos of strikes on the city's industrial zone, which hosts several oil refining complexes.
In the Kuban region, according to the same channels, drones struck the Taman substation — a key node of the Kuban-Crimea power bridge — and the Tamangazneft oil terminal in the village of Volna. The outlet Krymsky Veter noted that in late July Ukrainian drones destroyed 12 storage tanks at the terminal. Satellite data also showed a fire near the Primorsko-Akhtarsk military airfield, which Russian forces use to launch Shahed drones against Ukrainian territory.
Ulyanovsk region governor Alexei Russkikh reported one person injured in a drone attack. According to him, 11 drones were shot down over the region. "A young man sustained a head wound. His condition is serious," he wrote.
Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 726 Ukrainian drones over 19 regions, including Tatarstan and Krasnodar Krai, as well as over the waters of the Azov and Black Seas. The Ukrainian side has not yet commented on the strikes.
