Ukrainian drones attacked a Wildberries sorting center in the Tula region overnight on August 5, triggering a large fire at the warehouse, local authorities and the company's press service reported. The logistics center is located in the city of Aleksin, according to the outlet Astra.
Wildberries said employees at the warehouse were evacuated, new deliveries were temporarily restricted, and goods were redirected to other facilities. Fire crews were working at the scene.
Regional governor Dmitry Milyaev said 107 Ukrainian drones were destroyed over the region overnight. The attack damaged two apartment buildings in the Venevsky district and two industrial facilities in Novomoskovsk and the Uzlovsky district — the governor did not specify what those facilities were.
According to preliminary data, there were no fatalities, but one person was injured. Milyaev's statement did not clarify whether the injury occurred during the attack on the Wildberries warehouse. Russia's Defense Ministry reported that air defense intercepted and destroyed 475 Ukrainian drones overnight over 15 Russian regions, annexed Crimea, and the Azov and Black Seas.
Ukrainian monitoring Telegram channels published videos purportedly showing eyewitness footage of the fire at the warehouse in Aleksin. In Kyiv, attacks on Wildberries warehouses are explained by their use in supplying sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment. Since mid-July, Ukraine has struck more than 20 Wildberries warehouses.
