An ambulance crew came under fire after arriving at the site of an earlier shelling to help the wounded, according to the outlet Pepel. The vehicle's doctor and paramedic were killed, and the driver was wounded by shrapnel, acting regional governor Alexander Shuvaev said.
Shuvaev reported four deaths in total: the two medical workers and a married couple. Three men, including the ambulance driver, were injured.
The attack also caused two outbuildings to collapse and catch fire. Windows in two apartment buildings, one private house, a garage and a car were damaged. A separate vehicle in the village of Dobroe in the Shebekino district was damaged by a Ukrainian drone.
Reports of the death toll varied slightly: both TV Rain and Shuvaev, as cited by Mediazona, reported four dead. Mediazona and Meduza highlighted in their headlines the deaths of the ambulance workers and the married couple, while TV Rain focused on the attack on the ambulance itself.
