Governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov has proposed postponing the #TriChetyre youth festival to 2027, and the organizing committee unanimously backed the initiative, the regional administration reported.
Bocharov explained the decision by saying that "today is not the time for large-scale festive events" with shows, salutes, and fireworks. According to him, Russians live in difficult times and face restrictions on fuel supplies and sales, internet outages, and Ukrainian military "trying to harm civilians."
The governor said that citizens "need to concentrate all possible resources on supporting our warriors defending the Motherland from modern fascists and Nazis." He proposed directing the funds freed up by the cancellation of the festival to support war participants.
The #TriChetyre festival is one of the largest youth events in southern Russia. Last year, according to organizers, more than 500,000 people took part. This year the event was scheduled to take place from September 11 to 13.
