Case summary

The FSB officers detained Mejit Ablyamitov on 19 August 2020. He was taken into custody on charges of participation in an illegal armed formation, namely the Crimean Tatar Volunteer Battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan, which apparently had not been functioning for a long time at the time of the prosecution. On 23 March 2021, the court sentenced him to six years in a strict regime colony and one year of restricted freedom. Ablyamitov did not plead guilty.
