Case summary

A resident of the Yaroslavl region, Abramov is a specialist in system programming and information technology. He is a developer of the Russian supercomputer, holds a Doctorate in Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He serves as Chief Researcher at the A.K. Ailamazyan Institute of Software Systems in Pereslavl-Zalessky, where he was Director from 2003 to 2022.

In April 2023, Abramov was placed under house arrest on charges of financing extremist activities. The case centres on seven donations of 1,000 roubles each to the Anti-Corruption Foundation. Abramov denies the allegations, stating that the transfers were made without his knowledge. He was released from house arrest in November 2023.

The prosecution’s case also involves a secret witness who alleges that Abramov expressed support for Alexei Navalny during a conversation.

On 11 July 2025, the court fined him 150,000 roubles.
