Case summary

On 20 February 2012, he was detained on charges of fraud, then the charge was reclassified to extortion. According to the prosecution, Achilov extorted money from developers who were building an apartment building with violations that allegedly took place in the same month; he was beaten and tortured during his arrest. A measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen. Later, Achilov was charged with another extortion from a property developer, allegedly in April-May 2011. On 30 April 2013, he was sentenced to 11 years in a strict regime colony.

He was released in February 2023.
