Editorial summary

Alexandra Alexandrovna Alexandrova, also known professionally as Sasha Alexandrova, is a journalist from Yakutia. Before her prosecution, she had worked for regional media for many years, including the Sitim media group, the newspaper Nashe Vremya, News.Ykt.ru and SakhaDay. She later founded her own media outlet, ZIMA, and a Telegram channel of the same name, which was subsequently renamed “Sasha was online.”

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Alexandrova left Russia for Kazakhstan. She returned to Yakutia in 2024. On March 20, 2025, she was detained, and the following day the Yakutsk City Court ordered her held in pre-trial detention. She was charged under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code, covering public justification or propaganda of terrorism using the internet. On March 31, 2025, Rosfinmonitoring added her to its official list of “terrorists and extremists.”

The proceedings were closed to the public. As a result, no reliable public court record identifies the exact publication or statement that formed the basis of the charge. Regional reports have linked the prosecution generally to Alexandrova’s critical commentary about the war, but the available evidence does not justify attributing the case to any specific post.

On November 28, 2025, the Khabarovsk District Military Court sentenced Alexandrova to three years in a general-regime penal colony; the prosecution had requested five years. According to the current Memorial support project record, she was being transferred to a penal institution, with the final place of imprisonment not yet publicly identified.
