Case summary
On May 22, 2020 Aliyev's home was searched, and then he was questioned by the Investigative Committee together with his wife and brother. The operatives advised his wife to cooperate with the investigators so that "something would not happen to her husband". Later it became known that Aliyev was accused of participating in the activities of an extremist organization and involving others in such activities.
On 4 June 2021, he was sentenced to four and a half years suspended sentence.
