Case summary

A resident of Makhachkala, feminist, founder of the human rights group Marem. She left Russia in 2021. A case was opened against her for spreading deliberately false information about the Armed Forces because of her post about the killing of civilians in Bucha. On April 12, 2022, police officers came to the home of Amirova's 93-year-old mother. A search of the human rights defender's home was conducted on August 14, 2023. On September 5, 2024, her mother was visited again to take samples of her saliva. On January 19, 2026, Amirova was sentenced in absentia to five years in general regime prison.
