Acting as part of an organized group, while on the Ukrainian Navy ships "Berdiansk," "Nikopol," and "Yany Kapu" in the Black Sea waters, without notifying the captain of the Kerch Sea Port about the approach of the ships to the Kerch Strait 48 hours in advance and additionally failing to notify 24 hours before the approach, furthermore, without transmitting the coordinates of the border crossing point to the nearest coastal communication post 1 hour before entering the territorial waters, and without responding to the demands to stop by the officials of the Border Guard Service of the Russian FSB in Crimea, he engaged in dangerous maneuvers, posing a threat to navigation, and illegally crossed the state border of the Russian Federation in the area with average geographical coordinates of 44 degrees 52.7 minutes north latitude and 36 degrees 31.3 minutes east longitude on November 25, 2018

Full summary
He was detained when Russian ships blocked Ukrainian vessels in the Black Sea near Crimea, and wounded in the shelling on 25 November 2018. November 27 he was seized, accused of illegally crossing the Russian border, November 29 he transferred to the hospital of the pre-trial detention center «Matrosskaya silence». In January 2019 he was transferred to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention centre. He was released as part of the exchange of Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation for a group of people released by Ukraine and arrived on the territory of Ukraine on 7 September 2019.
