In addition, according to the investigation, "having a negative attitude to the current government in the Russian Federation, being an opponent of the special military operation of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine", received in the chatbot of the Legion "Freedom of Russia" a questionnaire to join, established contact with its representatives and informed about his desire to join it and participate in its activities, including coming to the territory of Ukraine for this purpose, and in June 2023 filled out the questionnaire and sent it to the address of the Legion. In the summer of 2023, he received an assignment from the Legion, which the prosecution claims was a condition of his joining the organisation. In fulfilment of this assignment, at an unspecified time that same summer, he, "using white and blue aerosol paint, painted on the wall of a residential building the propaganda symbols of the terrorist organisation Legion Freedom of Russia", after which he sent photos to his internet interlocutor. Also at an unspecified time between 6 June 2023 and 14 June 2024, according to the prosecution, he received another assignment - to set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway. In order to carry out the arson, the man watched five 30-second Youtube clips of other cabinet arsons posted on the Telegram channel "Rospartizan" and others. Thus, according to the prosecution's version, "trained and acquired the appropriate knowledge to commit arson of a transport infrastructure facility". In addition, he "made a reconnaissance of the area" and bought petrol from a petrol station. He grew and stored cannabis at home for personal consumption without the purpose of sale.
