Case summary

He is a former sports journalist and a connoisseur of "What? Where? When?". He is engaged in organising intellectual games. In April 2022, a criminal case was opened against him under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism. In December 2022 Askerov was recognised as a "foreign agent". In January 2025, he was included in the list of extremists and terrorists of Rosfinmonitoring with a mark, which is put with the names of people prosecuted under terrorist articles. Later it became known that a case on calls for terrorism was opened against him and Ukrainian journalist Oleksiy Gomon in connection with calls for an attempt on the life of the Russian leadership.
