Case summary
Vladivostok resident. In December 2023, his place was searched. On 23 March 2025, he was questioned as a suspect in the case of participation in the activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement in the activities of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely because of their religious activities - holding meetings and worship services and recruiting new supporters. Baranov has signed a recognisance not to leave. In April 2025, he was also accused of financing extremist activities.
