Case summary
On 27 May 2020, law enforcement agencies searched Baranov's home and took him for interrogation. On 29 May, a court placed him into custody on charges of participation in activities of an extremist organization and recruitment of new members. On 20 November, a court chose a preventive measure in the form of a ban on certain actions, and on 6 June 2022, sentenced him to five years' suspended sentence. On 1 March 2023, a court of appeal reduced the sentence by six months.
