Case summary

A resident of Moscow. On 7 March 2024, he was detained on charges of justification of terrorism due to a comment made in 2023 supporting a resident of Nizhnevartovsk convicted of arson at a military recruitment centre. When the comment was published, the man was in Armenia.

On 9 March, Barinov was taken into custody. Between 28 August 2024 and 3 June 2025, the court sentenced him to one and a half years in a general regime colony.

In June 2025, the court imposed eight years of administrative supervision on Barinov. This ruling entered into force in October.

Presumably, the man was released from the colony in July 2025.
