The following texts served as a pretext for initiating the case: "Unfortunately, we live in a fascist state. Hitler's Mein Kampf clearly shows analogies with Putin's regime, which has been in force for more than 25 years now. The only way to implement the law on lustration proposed by Galina Starovoytova is to overthrow the current regime. Onwards to topple the current regime!"; "As a result of a terrorist act against a railway train in the Bryansk region, a locomotive and 4 railcars were blown up and burnt down. I approve and look forward to similar actions at railway facilities in other regions in Russia, through which death is travelling to Ukraine. The local law enforcers at Federal Security Service, Ministry of Internal Affairs, bailiffs should meet the same end and be jollied by Molotov cocktails"; "It is difficult to find a dynasty of stokers or carpenters in Russia, but we have a dynasty of Federal Security Service's men".

Full summary
Former deputy of the City Duma in Glazov (Udmurtia). In 2022 he participated in the "Congress of People's Deputies of Russia" in Warsaw, after which he returned to Russia.
According to unconfirmed reports, Edigarev was several times subjected to protocols under the administrative article on discrediting the Armed Forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences), with the third protocol returned to the police by the court. The Tainiy Sovetnik telegram channel claims that Edigarev was also prosecuted for "committing fraudulent actions".
In the winter of 2023, Edigarev was beaten up by unknown people, "Vot Tak" reports, but the Investigative Committee refused to open a criminal case.
The criminal case on public justification of terrorism became known in May 2023. The occasion was three comments in Telegram - about the need to overthrow the government, the undermining of a railway train and the "FSBshniki dynasty".
During the detention Edigarev was beaten in the face, stomach and groin, as well as toppled in the mud with his face. He was taken into custody.
In November 2023, it was reported that the politician was to be prosecuted for cooperation on a confidential basis with a foreign state or organisation - presumably because of his connection with the "Congress of People's Deputies of Russia". On 24 September 2024, Edigarev was sentenced on the case of public justification of terrorism to three years' imprisonment in a general regime colony.
On 5 March 2026, shortly before Edigarev's supposed release, he was formally taken into custody in a new case - on participation in the activities of a terrorist community and violent seizure of power. A RIA Novosti source in law enforcement agencies said that the reason was Edigarev's involvement in the activities of the "Congress of People's Deputies of Russia".
