Case summary
A resident of Chelyabinsk, in the Ural region of Russia, who worked in apartment renovation. On 20 August 2024, he was detained and taken into custody on charges of publicly justifying terrorism and calling for terrorist acts. Fomov wrote that the case was prompted by his "disagreement with the domestic and foreign policy pursued by the president and the ‘Kremlin towers’," as well as a comment supporting one of the armed formations operating in Ukraine — specifically, comments calling for the execution of Putin and expressing support for the "Russian Volunteer Corps".
On 12 August 2025, Fomov was sentenced to six years in a general-regime penal colony.
