According to the investigation, on 4 March 2022, while at home, on a Ukrainian TV channel he saw a call to report the movement of Russian military equipment to the chatbot "I found the occupier!". Gnatenko saved a link to this bot. The next morning, on 5 March 2022, Gnatenko, driving a car with his mother and common-law wife in the passenger compartment, while driving through the settlement, saw a column of "LNR" military equipment "consisting of three units: one URAL tilt cargo vehicle, one UAZ low-tonnage cross-country utility vehicle, registration number LK 3958, and one Jeep cross-country passenger vehicle, with "Z" identification marks, travelling in the opposite direction along ul. Slavyanskaya St. from the side of the village. Lubyanka village of Belokurakino district in the direction of Belokurakino settlement". Then, "continuing to implement his criminal intent aimed at committing high treason, realising the socially dangerous nature of his actions and wishing to harm the security of the Luhansk People's Republic, on his mobile phone he followed the link saved the day before in the browser of the phone to the chatbot called "I found the occupant!', and pressed the 'Start' button", after which he handed the phone to his common-law wife Elena Sokol, who, according to the prosecution, "was not aware of Gnatenko's criminal intent", and asked her to take pictures of the equipment. Having taken one or two photos, the woman, acting in accordance with Gnatenko's instructions, "sent the above information to a chatbot created on 02 March 2022 by the Security Service of Ukraine to collect information on the location of the LNR NM and RF Armed Forces units on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic, as well as the redeployment of military equipment and personnel, in order to carry out measures to destroy the identified positions of the above-mentioned LNR and RF units". In response to a question from the bot, "Specify at what time did you see this?", Elena Sokol replied, "just now", then the bot offered to describe the situation in one message. Sokol specified: "The technique is moving to the settlement of Belokurakino, 10-14 hours, 05.03.2022". In response to the sentence "Write your phone number", the woman wrote Gnatenko's mobile phone number, then a map was sent to her, and Sokol marked with a dot the place where they had photographed the technique. Then came a message that read: "Thank you, your appeal has been sent to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, soon the enemy will be destroyed.
