Case summary
Resident of the Pskov region, originally from St. Petersburg. In May 2024, sentenced to a year of restriction of liberty on charges of illegal possession of cartridges (we do not consider this prosecution to be politically motivated).
In August 2025, a case of justification of terrorism was brought against him because of a comment in support of the Russian Volunteer Corps.
According to the investigation, in May 2023, in a public telegram chat Gneushev wrote about activist Vladislav Shipitsyn's attack on publicist Viktor Shenderovich: "The beastly hatred of the Russian intelligentsia towards those who do something, like RVC ("Russian Volunteer Corps"), and those who directly support them, like Shipitsyn, is the banal envy of lazy, cowardly losers who justify their laziness, mediocrity and cowardice with pacifism."
Prior to the verdict, Gneushev was on his own recognisance not to abscond. On 27 January 2025, the court sentenced Gneushev to five years and one month in a general regime colony.
