According to the investigation, in October 2024 and January 2025, as a people's deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the IX convocation, during public speeches he made statements in the form of appeals to an indefinite number of persons, containing a combination of linguistic and psychological signs of inducement to carry out terrorist activities, as well as humiliation of the dignity of a group of persons on the basis of nationality, with the threat of violence. He posted text publications containing video recordings of these public appeals in the public domain on the Internet.

A case was launched against him for public justification of terrorism, spreading deliberately false information about the Russian Armed Forces and incitement to hatred. On 17 May 2024, he was sentenced to ten years in absentia. In December 2025, the prosecutor's office reported that he was given a new sentence - on the case of calls to terrorism and incitement to hatred, and the total sentence was 18 years in absentia.
