Case summary
An activist of Left Socialist Action and the Russian Social Democratic Youth Union (RSSYU) from Kursk. In October 2023, the police came to his house, after which he disappeared. According to the "Word of Defence" project, Grigoryan was stuffed into the trunk of a car, then, after taking him out, they placed an explosive device in his legs and started beating him, demanding obedience. After that, they forced him to take a taxi to a certain place and there to take the explosives out of the hole in the ground. This process was filmed by unknown people. Grigoryan was then detained again, pretending to have been caught red-handed. He was sent to custody in Moscow on charges of terrorist act and possession of explosives: according to the investigation, he was involved in the preparation of the murder of Russian Army Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Gal. Later, charges of high treason, smuggling of explosives and participation in the activities of a terrorist community were added.
The "Word of Defence" project notes that, according to open data, Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Gal died ten days before the case against Grigoryan for preparing an assassination attempt on him was opened.
On 28 January 2025 Grigoryan was sentenced to seven years in a general regime colony.
