Case summary

A resident of Korsakov (Sakhalin Oblast). In August 2023, a search took place at his home. Gumenyuk was accused of participation and involvement in the activities of an extremist organisation due to his involvement with the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Representatives of this community are prosecuted under extremist articles solely because of their religious activities: holding meetings and worship services and attracting new supporters. On 19 November 2024, Humenyuk was sentenced to five years' conditioned sentence.
