Case summary

Pensioner, resident of St. Petersburg. He was detained on 20 November 2019 and sent to house arrest under the article on public justification of terrorism, on 14 January 2020 his arrest was cancelled and he was sentenced on his own recognizance.

On 13 August 2020, the court sent Kovalenko for compulsory treatment by a psychiatrist on an outpatient basis. Alexander's wife reported that the pensioner has oncological disease. As a representative of the St. Petersburg prosecutor's office noted at the hearing, the information about Alexander Kovalenko's IP address was passed to the investigation by the security service of Vkontakte.
