Case summary
Former member of Starobelsk City Council (Ukraine). A case was opened against him for participation in the activities of a terrorist community because of his alleged involvement in the activities of the Azov battalion and for possession of explosives. The prosecutor's office claimed that he joined Azov in May 2024, while in Starobelsk. However, Starobelsk has been under Russian occupation since March 2022 and Azov has been recognised as a terrorist organisation since August 2022. On 20 January 2026, Kozachek was sentenced to eight years in a general regime colony.
