Case summary
Eco-activist. In September 2022, he was prosecuted for vandalism for defacing a banner with the letter Z and falsely reporting an impending terrorist attack at a military recruitment centre. The reason for the call with the message, as he later explained, was that he saw his son's name on the list of those subject to mobilisation. At the time of the search in the criminal case, Kraval was serving a six-day administrative arrest in a special reception centre under the article on evasion of compulsory labour (part 4 of article 20.25 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Later he was taken into custody as part of a criminal case. In December 2022, Kraval was transferred to house arrest. He was reclassified the charge to false reporting of a terrorist act to destabilise the authorities (part 3 of article 207 of the Criminal Code). In May 2023, Kraval was again taken into custody. Back in March, the prosecution petitioned to transfer Kraval to a pre-trial detention centre, claiming that he had violated the conditions of house arrest several times - in particular, approached the Palace of Culture, where he had previously defaced a banner. Then the court rejected this motion. On June, 6, 2023, Kraval was sentenced to six years and three months in a general regime colony.
