According to Mediazona, the case was opened over a comment posted on 11 September 2024 in the Telegram channel of the Chechen opposition blogger and supporter of Chechen independence, Tumso Abdurakhmanov . The prosecution identified calls to terrorism in the comment: "That's why we listen to him, because he is not afraid - a ray of freedom in a kingdom of darkness! And we will destroy this darkness only together, when we realise that we have only one enemy - putin and his FSB (Federal Security Service) clique... Both you and we must destroy this enemy so that we may continue to live as peaceful neighbours…” The prosecution believes that the comment contains "incitement to an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation and incitement to commit terrorist activities against the employees of the FSB of Russia". Krichevsky did not plead guiltt. In court, he stated that he did not call for "any physical destruction" of the President or FSB officers: "My quote is precisely "the darkness must be destroyed". Darkness, note - darkness created by the current regime. And "the enemy must be removed" is a figurative expression, which in no way a call to any terrorist activity. I consider my actions illegal, but I believe it is either article 280 or 282. There is no question of any terrorism. Moreover, under the article charged, the defendant must support the ideology and practice of terrorism. I categorically do not support them.”
