Case summary

An archaeologist. Kruglov was detained in July 2022, when he was on an expedition in a forest in the Tyumen region. He was taken to Omsk and interrogated, after which he was released, promising that he would be sent for a psychological examination within a few days. On 11 August, the court ordered a comprehensive inpatient forensic examination for Kruglov. On 16 August he was admitted to hospital. After the court began considering the case, Kruglov attempted to leave the country, but was detained en route by officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB), after which the court placed him in custody. On 12 December 2022, Kruglov was sentenced to eight months of corrective labour.
