According to the investigation, in February 2018, he voluntarily joined the special purpose unit "Azov" of the National Guard of Ukraine. On the territory of the training bases located in the village of Urzuf, Donetsk region, he underwent training "for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities", acquired knowledge, practical skills and skills during physical and psychological training sessions, learnt the rules of handling weapons, explosive devices, explosives. After that, as a section commander of the 2nd anti-aircraft missile division of the 2nd anti-aircraft missile-artillery division of the separate special-purpose detachment "Azov", he took part in combat operations against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
