Case summary

Along with three other residents of Bashkiria, was accused of participation in the activities of the organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami (Islamic Liberation Party), which was declared a terrorist organisation in 2003 at a closed session of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, as well as of "preparation for actions aimed at violent seizure of power, as well as violent change of the constitutional order"; According to the FSB, in 2011-2012 he created a regional subdivision of the banned organisation in Bashkiria and was engaged in recruiting supporters and organising pickets, rallies and conferences to promote the ideas of his organisation, as well as distributing propaganda materials with calls "to overthrow and change the social and political order by armed means". He has been detained since August 2013. In April 2015, he was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in a strict regime colony.

He was released in April 2020.
