Case summary

A resident of Tyumen, journalist and blogger. On 3 of March 2016, he was detained and taken to the FSB department on suspicion of justifying terrorism based on a LiveJournal entry about ISIS and was released on his recognisance not to leave. On 15 of June Kungurov was taken into custody. The trial was closed at the request of the expert who analysed Kungurov's post, as he claimed he had received threats. On 20 of December 2016, Kungurov was sentenced to two years in a penal colony. In March 2018, he was transferred to a general regime colony due to reports from penal colony staff, which led to Kungurov being classified as a "persistent offender". On 15 of June 2018, he was released.
