Case summary
Physicist, former Director General and Chief Designer of Leninets, the Russian defence industry's Research and Development Enterprise of Hypersonic Systems. He headed Leninets' directorate for New Hypersonic Technologies. In August 2021, Kuranov was detained as part of a treason case. He pleaded guilty and entered into an agreement with the investigation. On 18 April 2024, Kuranov was sentenced to seven years in a strict regime colony and a fine of 100,000 rubles.
