Case summary

An environmental activist who opposed urban redevelopment and the cutting down of trees. The reason for the criminal prosecution was a protest during which Kuzmina climbed a tree with a crossbow that was unfit for shooting. On 17 August 2021 she was placed under house arrest. On 4 August 2023 a court ordered that Kuzmina be sent for compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital. Kuzmina has left Russia.
