According to the investigation, "with the aim of conveying to the authorities his subjective opinion about the special military operation carried out by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, expressed as a negative attitude towards the deaths of servicemen and civilians on both the Russian Federation’s and Ukraine’s sides," he used an aerosol spray can to write inscriptions on several buildings, including the local leisure centre, library, employment centre, and shop - as well as on the memorial plaque of Mikhail Teplov, a participant in the Great Patriotic War. In some cases, the inscriptions were in the form of two intersecting letters Z.
