Case summary
A resident of Omsk, a priest of the Greek Catholic parish of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 2023, he was summoned to the police for a preventive conversation. On 23 April 2024, a criminal case was opened against him because of an icon depicting Bandera, which was apparently seized in 2023. On 24 April, Maksimov was placed under house arrest in a case of rehabilitation of Nazism and insulting the feelings of believers.
On 16 May 2025, the Omsk Regional Court terminated the prosecution under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal prosecution. It is unknown whether Maksimov remains accused of insulting the feelings of believers.
