In the three posts that formed the basis of the accusation, Malyshev criticised the holidays of 23 February and 9 May in their modern interpretation. The post about 23 February began as follows: "Since I was a little boy, on this bloody day, I wondered from who it was necessary to defend the motherland, which no one attacks, but which constantly shoots in the direction of its borders, calling it anything but aggression. It was further noted that "defense of the motherland" in Russia means, among other things, war with Chechnya, which has declared independence. The post about 9 May said that the holiday had been "discredited" because it had turned from a day of remembrance of a "national catastrophe" and "degradation of the gene pool" into "a terrible orgy, a holiday of death". The author of the post blamed the state memory policy under Yeltsin in general, and the authors of school textbooks in particular, who created "the feeling that Stalin atoned for the repressions, the Holodomor and the annexations of the Baltic States, Poland and Finland." "We still haven't invented a language with which to describe the catastrophe that happened then."
