Andrei Markhai

According to the investigation, Markhai was a member of the organised group "Autonomous Combat Terrorist Organisation (AСTO) syndicate", which operated in 2009-2010 and whose plans included systematic bombings and arson attacks to influence the migration policy of the Russian Federation. On the night of 20 December 2009, on the eve of "Security Worker's Day", a group of young men (Astashin, Povazhnaya, Markhai, Lebedev and Ivanov) threw Molotov cocktails at the building of the FSB Department for the South-West District of Moscow. As a result of these actions there were no casualties, the damage to the premises amounted to 11 thousand roubles. Participants positioned the arson as a "non-violent direct action against the FSB", an act of political protest. Andrei Markhai, 18, threw a Molotov cocktail through the window of the department. 12.04.2012 Moscow City Court sentenced Markhai to 10 years in a strict regime colony. 23.07.2012 The Supreme Court reduced this sentence to 8 years of strict regime. At the end of 2017, Markhai was sentenced to 8 years of administrative supervision, under the terms of which he cannot leave Moscow and the Moscow region without notifying the supervisory authorities.
