Kseniia Povazhnaia

According to the investigation, Povazhnaia was a member of the organised group "Autonomous Combat Terrorist Organisation (ABTO) syndicate", which operated in 2009-2010 and whose plans included systematic bombings and arson attacks to influence the migration policy of the Russian Federation. On the night of 20 December 2009, on the eve of "Security Worker's Day", a group of young men (Astashin, Povazhnaia, Markhai, Lebedev and Ivanov) threw Molotov cocktails at the building of the FSB Department for the South-West District of Moscow. As a result of these actions there were no casualties, the damage to the premises amounted to 11 thousand rubles. The video of the action was posted by Astashin on the Internet under the title "Happy Chekist's Day, bastards!". The participants positioned the arson as a "non-violent direct action against the FSB", an act of political protest. 18-year-old Kseniia Povazhnaia threw two Molotov cocktails at the windows of the FSB department. In the morning of 12 March 2010, FSB officers detained Kseniia and Ivan Astashin in the flat where they lived. After the detention, Povazhnaia was diagnosed with a concussion. A few days later, both were released on their own recognisance. After an attempted departure and repeated detention on 28.12.2010, Astashin and Povazhnaia were placed in custody. 12.04.2012 Moscow City Court sentenced Povazhnaia to 8 years in a general regime colony. On 23.07.2012, the Supreme Court reduced this sentence to 4 years.
