Case summary

In June 2021, the of Nina Martynova and her husband, Andrei, house was searched. The reason was Christian beliefs of the spouses. In April 2022, they were charged in involvement in activities of and participation in an extremist organisation. In July 2022, the case was sent to court, and, in December, the court sentenced the woman to a fine of 350,000 rubles. On 13 February 2023, the Supreme Court of the Chuvash Republic considered appeals against the sentence and reduced the fine to 80,000 rubles.
