According to the investigation, in September 2023, he posted a text comment on the Internet under the news publication about the power outage in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Khmelnytskyi regions of Ukraine, the content of which has linguistic and psychological signs of inciting other users to assassinate the President of the Russian Federation in order to stop his political and State activities.

A resident of Chelyabinsk. He was prosecuted for incitement to terrorism because of a comment under a news item about power outages in different regions of Ukraine. The defence argued that Melikhov was not against the SMO, and that the comment that prompted the case was written due to "psychological problems". On 27 June 2024, Melikhov was sentenced to five and a half years in a general regime colony.
