Case summary

Memedeminov was detained in March 2018 after a search in the village of Kholmovka, Bakhchisaray district. His wife Lemara Memedeminova said that during the search the law enforcers broke down the door, behaved rudely, used foul language, immediately put her husband on the floor and handcuffed him. The law enforcers seized the phones of the activist and his wife, a tablet and several books. Memedeminov was later arrested.

On 2 October 2019, he was sentenced to two and a half years in a penal colony. On 21 September 2020, he was released.
