Case summary

Resident of Kherson region (Ukraine). On 11 April 2022, his house in Genichesk was searched and he was detained. At the same time, law enforcers claimed that Memetshayev was detained while trying to travel to Crimea. He was brought to Crimea and taken into custody on charges of participation in an illegal armed formation, namely the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion named after Noman Chelebidzhikhan, which apparently had not been functioning for a long time at the time of the prosecution. On 12 October 2022, he was sentenced to six and a half years in a strict regime colony.
