Case summary

On 11 October 2011, he was detained and his apartment was searched, during which books by Said Nursi were seized. He was charged with organising the activities of an extremist organisation. On 27 May 2013, he was sentenced to one year of suspended imprisonment. On 15 August, the court of second instance upheld the sentence. At the end of June 2014, Merazhov was reported to have been removed from the list of organisations and individuals in respect of whom there is information about their involvement in extremist activity or terrorism.

Later Merazhov was charged with participation in the activities of an extremist organisation as part of the case of continuing the activities of a cell of a non-existent organisation called "Nurdzhular" in the Novosibirsk region. He left Russia.
