Case summary
A Resident of Barnaul. A criminal case was opened against him for allegedly disseminating “fake news” about the Russian army, public justification of terrorism and illegal possession of drugs. On May 5, 2023, Mitrofanov was sentenced to 7 years' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony. Later, a case of public justification of terrorism and incitement to hatred was initiated against him, including over comments made a few days before announcement of the verdict in the first case. Combined with the first sentence, Mitrofanov was sentenced to 9 years 6 months' imprisonment in a general regime penal colony.
