Case summary
A Ukrainian serviceman, he was captured in April 2022. On 20 December 2023, he was sentenced in the occupied territory of the Donetsk region of Ukraine to 24 years in a strict-regime penal colony on charges of attempted murder of two or more persons, the use of prohibited means and methods in an armed conflict, and the destruction of private property. According to the investigation, he and eight fellow servicemen participated in the shelling of the village of Lebedinske. A separate criminal case was also initiated against Mogilnyi regarding participation in the activities of a "terrorist community" due to his alleged involvement with the Azov battalion. In October 2025, the case was brought to court.
