Case summary
A resident of Ulyanovsk city, Muchkin was reportedly stalking the family of his ex-wife, according to unconfirmed information. He was accused of failing to pay alimony, which led to a confrontation with a bailiff and a traffic police officer who attempted to seize his car as part of the enforcement process. As a result, a criminal case was opened against him for insulting and using violence against a public official.
There are no grounds to consider these initial prosecutions politically motivated. However, following the opening of the case, investigators appear to have begun examining Muchkin’s social media activity. He was subsequently charged with deliberately providing false information about the Russian Armed Forces and with publicly justifying terrorism. Muchkin has been held in custody since 2023.
