Case summary

Resident of the Luhansk region of Ukraine. In the past, he was an assistant to the mayor of the town of Rubizhne. On 31 March 2022, he was detained in Rostov region. He was fined 2,000 rubles under the administrative article on violation of border crossing rules and arrested for 12 days under the administrative article on petty hooliganism. As Muryga later recounted, at the end of his arrest, they detained him, put a bag over his head and took him to Rostov-on-Don. On 18 May 2022, the court sent Muryga to custody under the article on illegal armed formation and training for terrorist activities. At the same time, a video was circulated in which Muryga says that while serving in the Aidar battalion, he participated in the bombing of a bridge in the Luhansk region. On 20 June 2023, he was sentenced to 16 years in a strict regime colony.
