Case summary
A resident of Astrakhan. He was detained on 25 April 2022 after a call from a security guard at the Vastorg shopping centre, who complained that the man had left an anti-war inscription on a billboard near the building. An expert examination showed that the man was drunk. The Astrakhan man was charged with discrediting the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Part 1, Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offences) and petty hooliganism involving disobedience to a lawful order of a public official (Part 2, Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences). Under the first report he was fined 30 thousand rubles, and under the second one he was arrested for five days. In addition, it became known that the man left inscriptions "No to war!" on two buildings and two monuments, namely on the monument to former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev and on the memorial stone at the base of the Aliyev Square. This was the reason for initiation of a criminal case. On 1 December 2022, the Astrakhan man was sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty.
