Case summary

Resident of Genichesk (occupied part of the territory of Kherson region of Ukraine). In September 2024, he was detained on suspicion of public justification of terrorism because of his posts about the Azov battalion. An operational video published by the "Extremism - NO!" Telegram channel shows the suspect calmly smoking at the entrance of a multi-storey building. In the next frame, two law enforcers in camouflage and masks run out of the minibus, put the man face down in the asphalt and handcuff him. The video then shows a fragment of the interrogation. A man with a tattoo on his arm and a blurred face talks, stammering, about the act he is accused of. In the video, the suspect does not name Azov, referring to one of the organisations recognised as "terrorist" in Russia; however, the battalion is mentioned in the Telegram channel's post.
