Case summary

On January 27th, 2011, at 7:20 a.m., Yaroslav Nemchaninov's home was searched by officers of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Centre for Counteraction to Extremism of the Kirov Oblast Department of Internal Affairs. A criminal case was opened against him under Article 282 ("Incitement of hatred or enmity, as well as humiliation of human dignity"). The investigation into the case lasted five months. During the investigation, more than a dozen witnesses were questioned and several expert examinations were conducted. As a result, specialists from the Saratov Forensic Expertise Laboratory came to the conclusion that the leaflet Nemchaninov was charged with did not specify the object of the crime. Social-psychological expertise also did not see signs of a criminal offense in the leaflet. As a result, the case was terminated "due to the absence of corpus delicti".
